what are my rights?
I bought a 2 bedroomed flat in Holme Lancs from Russel Armer Homes. I did not move in immediately. When I did the gas central heating radiator was missing in the downstairs hall. They offered me an electric one. Given that it would cost a fortune to run I did not really want it. The radiator in the second bedroom was too small to heat the room according to an independent plumber. The front door was not working properly the site foreman repeatedly said there was nothing wrong with it. But sent someone around twice who fiddled with the door but it was no better. I ended up paying a carpenter to fix the door.
There was a terrible smell of gas last week. I sent for the Gas board who said that the boiler flue should be half a metre from any opening and that
the flue was too close to the window. The builder disputed the distance measurement and gave their own distance but the flue is even closer to he window than their own measurment.
I had purchased a flat that according to their brouchure was well insulated and gas centrally heated and therefore would be warm and ecconomical to heat. I have spent a miserable winter being very cold. What can I do?
