Hi. I purchased a ‘luxury apartment’ in May 2005, part of a converted mill development of 9 similar homes. Unfortunatley I have had problems from the start, mostly regarding the roof. Condensation in the roof space, caused by no ventilation and a single skin roof. This cause problems with lights and electrics and have had frozen pipes in winter. We have no fire doors, broken fire breaks etc. We have discovered asbestos pipes ( possibly due to being an old industrial building) Window problems, the list is endless. However we have been trying to bring the builder/contractor/architect to account for a long time, with no success. We have had a surveyors report prepared stating the building is not fit for purpose and instructed a solicitor, but appear to be hitting a brick wall! Hopefully the local councils planning department will respond to our plea , although as they signed off the unfit building on xmas eve 2004 (? Bizzare, considering most offices are shut!) I doubt we will get any joy at all. Any ideas how we can bring these rouges to
justice?
We live in hope..
