Default Do I rights to delay completion

Hi,

We were promised completion of our property in May this year and that quickly turned to September after we exchanged. We sold our house in anticipation of the May date (under a lot of stress) but, suddenly, with nowhere to live and two young kids (one only 7 months old) we were forced into a 6 month rental lease.

The sales office constantly managed our expectations and it looked like the house would not be ready until at least October.

The sales person has now called and expressed his surprise that the development will be ready on time (imagine our surprise !). And it looks like they are going to try and push us into completing before the quarter ends.

Now although we should be delighted we are now left with months left on our rental property and have the possibility of a mortgage payment on top of that too. What are my rights concerning delaying the completion of the completion ?

They have made us wait for 4 months for our new home but now it seems they can get us to pay within 10 days when they see fit ??

Look forward to your responses
Cheers

Not unless it says you can in the contract you exchanged.

Have you tried explaining the situation to them, they might pay your rent. It is a reasonable request.

I hope this helps.

We tried that and Bryant Homes threatened to sue us. So we moved into a house that was unfinished.
