Default Black brickwork

Hi

my husband visited the site of our new home this week and sent me a picutre, i was shocked to see that instead of a path up to our front door we have some large steps, after a talk with the sales lady it seems that they are unable to put a path in due to the slope of the slight hill it is on. I'm not too concerned with this but what i am concerned about is that it looks like the black brickwork (excuse my ignorance, i am told this is the damp course) is going to be on show once the house is finished. I would be grateful of any advice anyone could give us on this. I have attached the picture, ours is on the right.

Thanks

oh dear

well, its currently about 8 rows of black, and the steps are at the top but then the soil slopes down to the house adjoining us exposing the other rows, then it stops abruptly at the join of the next house whic is situated about a foot an a half below us

i hope this makes sense!

Try uploading the pic to the snagging photos area on the left hand menu, http://www.snagging.org/option,com_g...Itemid,43.html and we can take a look from there. There is a building regulation(Regulation M as I recall) that states you have to have disabled access i.e. wheelchair and zimmerframe type access to the property by one access method (front or rear) so most properties have a sloping path at the front.

MD's hate being rung up at home of an evening and it seems to kick them into getting problems resolved - it seemed to work when I called up Keith Miller at home of an evening !(not that I condone stalking ;-) )

Peter Brogan - according to the electoral roll I have access to, there are 6 living in Scotland. A quick search of google shows the Strathclyde Homes one being from West Lintonhttp://news.scotsman.com/topics.cfm?...&id=2334192005 which I understand is about 15 miles from Edinburgh.
Of the 6 in Scotland ,
1 is in Alva, Clakmansanshire
1 is in Glenrothes, Fife
1 is in Edinburgh
1 is in Lockwinnoch, Renfrewshire
1 is in East Kilbride, Glasgow
1 is in Bearsden, Glasgow.

My bet is the one in Edinburgh as Clackmananshire looks about 30 miles and Glenrothes about 45 miles. It's also near Silverknowes Golf Course, Bruntsfield Link Golfing Society & the Royal Burgess Golfing Society of Edinburgh.

:blush:Firstly ignore my post about Peter Brogan and Strathclyde, that was destined for another post (it was late last night).

I'm no expert on building matters but that does look unsightly to me. As for it been damp course, wouldn't have thought so. DPC has to be 2 courses of brick above ground level and consists of a either a tray between the two cavities or a special type of plastic 'stuff'.

To me that looks like the foundation brick that the brickies thought would be covered up by the garden - but that's my opinion, not a professional one.

Hi

yes thought the strathclyde post was for someone else!

yes the black brickwork does look unsightly, thats my concern but i was under the impression that the black brickwork should be covered up by the front garden and turfing etc but i cant see how they will do this and not affect next door!
