Hi,

This is my first post on here following watching a programme about Snagging.org. My wife & I have bought a Harkiss Home in the Meadowbank Estate in Coylton near Ayr. My house has been flooded following a plumbing error and I was told by MR Harkiss himself to claim my home Insurance. Only 4 weeks after entry? Since then I have had 14 varoius water leaks mainly radiators and one from the boiler etc. I also have a crack running down the rough cast and into the brickwork which has cracked right through a brick just above the damp coarse. I have had a second opion report carried out on the plumbing which concluded that this house's plumbing was well below standard, very poor was his words.

All I get told from the builder is "oh we will get to it" yet no one has been near. I have instructed my lawyer to make a claim against the builders insurance for the damage caused by the flooding. I would like to make everyone aware if you are thinking of buying a Harkiss home, please please get your own inspection done before you pay! Once you have paid your money no one and I mean no one is interested in YOU! Your NHBC is not worth a penny I have contacted them only to be told that the builder is liable for the first 12 months! When you tell them that you are not getting anywhere with the builder you still don't get any help.

Hi there,
I have just read your story with great interest after watching the programme also. I have put my first posting on here just now about mine and my husbands new Barratt house. (If you want to you can read it). I agree with you about the NHBC, it's not worth the paper it's written on. We have gone through hell with our builders and I've got hundreds of photo's from the 8 months that they were here. I can sympathise with you completely because we have so much mess and hassle too.

Photos can be uploaded onto this site - have a look in the gallery section. I agree the NHBC is letting consumers down, but hey what can we expect they are owned by the developers.

Hi Tony,

My head is telling me to phone right now, but my heart is telling me to hang on as my lawyer has started a case against him. Mr Harkiss is a one man band, if I put his back up too much he might just fold up his company! He is that petty I'm affaid. I paid a high high price for my house and the quailty just isn't there. The other week there I had to park my car at the front of my house. As the site was getting delieveries I parked with one side of my car on the pavement. Mr Harkiss sent one of his employee's to my door to instruct me to move my car off the pavement. So I did and parked it on the road in front of my house. Two hours later the same employee was back to ask if I could move my car as the lorry carring bricks couldn't get past! All this because I have put a claim in. God knows what he would do if I brought in the TV 8O

If you go to http://www.snagging.org/gallery.html you can upload the photos by clicking on the add photo button or drop down. If you get stuck let me know and you can e-mail them to me and I will do it.

There is a drop down called admin options it should drop down to add photos. If that doesn't work I'll send you my e-mail address
