If your are buying carpets, furniture, flooring, blinds etc use your credit card. If the purchase is more than ?100 or less than ?30,000, the Credit Card company is equally liable under section 75 of the consumer credit act, if something goes wrong. It's a shame the mortgage lender isn't equally liable when you buy a new build home. Could this be an easy solution to the qulaity problems in the new build industry? The mortgage lenders would soon force developers to improve quality, if we could ask them to fix our defective houses.
