The developer will have chosen an electricty and gas supplier based on the commission they receive, make sure you check whether this supplier is the cheapeat for you. Check services such as uswitch http://www.qksrv.net/click-1464411-10279726.
It might be a good time to change your telephone provider and Internet provider too. If you do decide to change, support this site by going via the advertisements on snagging.org. :wink: Tony

Hi Tony,

Its good adivce, however because I am going to be buying a new home, which will be my first home I have no idea what prices to put into uswitch as it needs an existing set of variables to work at.

Is there a way to pick the best provider based on the facts, small house, single occupant, gas c/h etc?

It is isually quite difficult to change immediately as the meter serial numbers may not be registered on the suppliers system, so you have a month or so to monitor your usage. One thing you can do straight away is change to a cheaper option with the current supplier - this is usually involves a monthly direct debit rather than paying every three months
