Default A jobless rise but not a bloodbath

Every day, it seems, brings a new announcement of job losses from housebuilders. Totting up the numbers for the past week or so gives a figure not far short of 10,000, and this is not counting the thousands of self-employed sub-contractors who were building and fitting out new homes until the sector hit the buffers.

You'll very probably start getting them next week!
Today (Saturday 26th July) Inspection staff at NHBC will be receiving recorded delivery letters, likely to be giving then a month to consider their future careers.
NHBC will be shedding a quarter of inspection staff. You heard it here first.
