George Wimpey Milton Keynes
We are purchasing apartment at Campbell Square in Milton Keynes on FTBI scheme. We started the whole procedure almost a year ago. the planned comletion date was Oct/Nov 2009 - as you can all easily guess it never happened!
Although the first stage was very smooth and pleasant it all ended about August time when we were ready to exchange contracts! We were persuaded to exchange contracts and after that the whole communication stopped!!! We have been chasing for the completion date for the whole September and we even had to ask our solicitor to chase head office only to find out that there were legal issues and delay in building. No need to mention that we were calling them every month to check on the building progress and every time we were assured that everything was on schedule! ANyway the completion date was moved to end November beginning of December, we received the letter that we would receive another letter with narrowed completion window so on Monday, 2/11 I started chasing for the infrmation. It took me 4 days to find out that they moved completion date again - this time to mid December! The person in local office never made single effort to help us to find out that crucial information as soon as possible, never called back [even to say that there was still no news] and generally doesn't seem to know what is going on!
Very unpleasant experience - we had a great plan to spend first Christmas as married couple in our first own home but it seems it won't happen! I can understand that the building process can be delayed for a reasons beyond builders control but in this case we have been lied to that everything was on schedule and at first sign of trouble the developer started avoiding communication! i don't know whether it's policy set by head office or 'creativity' of local staff and frankly speaking I don't care. I know though that I will not buy my next home from George Wimpey [or Taylor Wimpey] - unless it's completed and ready to move in straight away...
