I hereby offer to purchase from you whatever type of house in whatever location and
using whatever standard and specification of materials you see fit and I undertake to pay
over the full purchase price within twenty-four hours of you intimating to me that the
house is ready whether it is, in fact, ready or not and whether or not it has been passed
as completed by the Local Authority. I will not be entitled to withhold payment of any part
of the purchase price for any reason including the fact that you may have no title or that
the disposition in my favour may not be ready for delivery, as I understand that you will
probably produce a title and a disposition at a later date. If I do not pay over the full
purchase price on the due date as aforesaid I will be liable for payment of interest at
what ever harsh and penal rate you may see fit to impose, which will bear no
resemblance to any current interest rates charged by any bank or other lending
institution, and, in addition, if the price is not paid within a further seven days of the due
date, you will be entitled to shoot me in both kneecaps.
Well I have had a response from the Office of Fair Trading
Quote:
We are currently assessing the industry's response to Recommendation 32 of the Final Report. I am sorry that we do not have anything more substantive to report to you on this matter but in the event that we were to launch a market study we would make a full statement at that time.
And yes it took them a month to formulate that response
Thanks for that, hopefully if we can get it 'sticky' on the tickeverybox site too.
I got the petition extended by 1 month to co-incide with the magazine article, don't want to put any detail in here just yet - want it to be a surprise to the builder but have emailed you seperately.
