If you know of anyone considering shared ownership tell them to please think again. In most instances they attach social housing to the shared ownership block - my experiences has been horrendous because you work hard to pay for your share in the property and assume it is an investment - now we can't even give the flats away - violence, drugs, anti-social behaviour all around. They have even ripped out the metal in our lift - the association in Ealing who manage the social housing side know who to the addicts are and the tennants engaging in the ASB but do nothing as our investment goes down the drain - please discourage people from shared ownership investments attached to social housing. We asked for CCTV at our expense - to no avail. We are actually trapped in with no way out.
