We moved into a new Bloor Home in June 2000 It had a 10yr Zurich buildings defect policy.with Zurich. We have been fighting for two years to get our chimneys and walls rebuilt and the drive relaid. The Northcott brick used is faulty and spalling and cracking and falling off the chimneys and walls. All agree there is a fault except Zurich. They have repaired two of our neighbours drives same fault .We have spent in excess of £2000 on building surveys and solicitors. We now have to go to court.Rebuild cost £15000 plus. Head of construction at Bloors and NHBC and brick company have stated bricks should not crumble when only a few years old. This frost in winter has finished the job nowHelp has anyone been in a similar mess! do not insure anything with Zurich and get your bricks tested by a materials expert before you spend half a million on a house built of crumbling Northcott brick.
