David Wilson Homes West Berkshire

I was wandering if anyone had, had any experience with David Wilson Homes in the West Berkshire Region, particulary The Chase, Abbots Grove Developments in Newbury. I am due to move into my home in June and wanted to know if anyone had any advice or particular snags to look out for?

I don't live on that development, but my advice would be to get a full survey before you complete and get the snags completed prior to moving in. Get a condition written into the contract if possible that gives you compensation payment if work not completed within a certain timescale. I live on a DWH development that has many residents who are still battling to get snags completed 3 + years Later. Mine have just been resolved 3 years in. My neighbour is still waiting for theirs to be completed. The trouble is they are not just the minor cracks etc. They involve major problems - structural and otherwise. Although you have an NHBC certificate our experience shows that this is not worth the paper its written on. Its much better if you can to get things done prior to them getting your money.
