Default Greenbelt-Landscape Management

Hi
Don't know if any of you are aware of the ongoing issue reported in the Wee County Newspaper regarding Greenbelt. (I have attached a document for your perusal) A land management company who supposedly look after the landscaping and plantings surrounding our estate in Clackmannanshire. Initially, we believed this to be a one off payment but soon discovered that there was a nominal yearly fee which could very well grow out of all proportion.
Gladedale hand over the rights of this land to Greenbelt later this year and after that we will have no recourse. Therefore a petition is being drawn up to stop this greedy monopoly and then we can sack them. Ideally we would like the local council to take over the land maintenance.
Basically we are paying this company to maintain their own land and after five years they can increase the fees to whatever they like. At the moment it is roughly £140 per annum but some estates are now paying up to £300 each. Our estate is around 350 houses which would equate to £105,000 per annum for an extremely poor service and extras like graffiti removal and dog poo bins would cost extra!!!!
If you have any stories relating to land management companies on your estates I would like to hear any input that you may have that could further our cause.

Jackie,

I see there is quite an article in The Herald today about Greenbelt.

Residents Ask Police To Probe Housing Estates Firm (from The Herald )

Probably comes as no surprise to you.
