Default Noise Level In New Flats

Hi everyone,

I am at my wits end after buying a new Carvill built flat about two and a half years ago with ongoing problems since then.

In a nutshell, I can hear and feel vibration not only from my neighbour below, but from 2 floors down! It is bad enough to wake you from sleep and if anyone slams a door or window, the whole place shakes.

Other neighnours are experiencing similar but most people are trying to just put up with it. I got NHBC involved when I thought the noise was coming just from the floor below and they did sound tests. This was nonsense as the builder was present and was hardly impartial. Also, it didn't take into account the vibration, just the sound from a loudspeaker. If they had slammed doors and windows it would have been another story. The results passed by 2 decibels.

Life here has been hell and I would try and put anyone off from buying a home built by Carvill. I have even started a website (address is in my profile)

Does anyone have any advice when NHBC prove to be completely innefective?

Cheers

CM

NHBC suck, it seems everyone has an excuse and "tests" show build is within regulations.

I hope I have learnt enough to check everything!!! properly if i ever decide to buy a new build again.
