Hi everyone,
Back in May 2007, my partner and i bought a two bedroom appartment on a development in South Wales.
We had the usual snags when moving in and Barratt were quite helpful in getting things sorted, we also had a mould issue around skirting boards etc. We were told to get rid of it using an anti-mould spray of bleach which worked for 99% of the flat.
Over the winter of 2009 we experienced another issue with mould on the bedroom wall which would dry out as the wether was dry and get worse when the weather was wet. I contacted Barratt's and they were not interested so i managed to get the number for the South Wales area managr who had the contractors on my doorstep within 48 hours. They said it was something to do with water tracking along brick ties and said they had sorted it.
We have had a wet winter and the mould is back. No matter how much i try t kill it, it keeps coming back - i've even tried neat bleach to no avail. I've also noticed that the laminate floor is also damp to the touch so i possibly have a wet floor too.
Basically, what can i do? Should i get an independent inspection carried out and then go to the NHBC? or contact Barratt's directly as it is a recurrence of an old problem?
Thanks everyone
Al
