Default Sink drain pipe height problem

I just bought a new apartment built by Stewart Milne. As soon we moved in, we ordered an integrated dishwasher to be installed in the cavity which would optionally have the carcase for a cabinet but the salesperson of the builder told us it was made to fit a full sized dishwasher with provision for electrical socket and isolator switch.
When we recieved our dishwasher which had standard specs depth of 55cms and width of 59.8 cms, we found out the cavity width was only 59. Adding to our woes was the fact that the Kitchen sink drain pipe is running at the back end of this cavity along the wall which is about 6 inches high therefore wont allow the dishwasher to sit flush in the space. As the flat is brand new and we have a courtesy inspection due, will the builder agree to re-plumb the drain pipe and bring it closer to the floor so as to allow the 'fit for purpose' dishwasher.

Hi Tropical Bird,

Do you have more than the Salesperson's word i.e is this on the design and in the specification?

Hello Tony,

We will have to look for the paperwork on the kitchen fittings although Im pretty sure this was not mentioned in the missives of the sale. The salesperson confirmed with us before our date of entry that we do not want the carcase fitted in the space as we going to go in for a dishwasher as was suggested by them. We bought the dishwasher from M&S and now realise the problem of the drain pipe.
It would be ideal if the builder decides to carry out the re-plumbing otherwise we are going to have to pay for it although I wonder if that voids the 2 year warranty the builder has given us on workmanship & material faults over and above the 10 year NHBC warranty.

Hi,

Well I guess it is worth seeing what they say and if they do agree to change it whether they actually do.

Stewart Milne customer services sent their plumber who after lots of thinking and consulting his boss, changed the length of pipe in the space by replacing the length with a small diameter pipe thereby increasing the depth of the cavity. The dishwasher now fits in perfectly. The job was done well everything else as a result remained intact without having the need for pulling out the Gas hob, or the bath to access the downpipe.
