Default Lied to about social housing

I recently bought a new bellway home on the Castell Maen estate in Caerphilly, South Wales. Ive recently found out that the next phase(which is being built behine my home) will have a large number of social housing allocated. What angers me is that we were told there would be none, before buying the house the sales staff saif there was to be none and during contract negotiations my solicitor specifically asked the question to bellways solicitors to which they replied in writing that there would be no social or affordable housing on the development.

Where do i stand? Do i have a legal case for being missold? I know not all social housing is a bad thing but on the nearby charles church development theyve had some allocated and the estate has really gone down hill, the place is a mess. There is a stigma attached and for good reason, its likely therefore to reduce the value of my home is it not? Can i sue because of being lied too?

go back to the solicitor who did the conveyancing and ask their advice, if they said in writing that there would not be, they could perhaps be seen as being in breach of the sales contract but the wording would have to be looked at carefully etc.

they should be able to advise you, or your househould insurance might offer legal cover. as the dispute is not about building work, but contractual issues, it may well cover you.
